ARTWORK and creative writing by children from across east Cleveland is to be featured as part of an exhibition in Loftus.
More than 50 children have been working with artists and writers at after-school clubs throughout the district as part of the East Cleveland Education Action Zone's out-of-school learning project.
The ten-week courses began in October, with graphic designers, poets, fine artists and illustrators providing help for the youngsters.
Bob Beagrie project coordinator for Cleveland Arts, said the courses have produced some very strong work, and added that some of the poems would be included in a forthcoming anthology of poetry by children from across Teesside.
"The workshops have allowed the children an opportunity to work informally, out of school hours, with professional artists and writers."
The presentation at Village Arts, Water Lane, Loftus, opens on Saturday, December 16, and will feature work by both primary and secondary school aged pupils. It will be open throughout the Christmas holidays. A new series of arts courses start in January
