HOMES are being sought for four dogs which are facing a miserable and lonely Christmas.
The National Canine Defence League (NCDL) Darlington Rehoming Centre is appealing to the public to help them rehome the dogs before the post-festive flood of unwanted pets begins.
The first dog, Shep, is a seven-year-old cross-breed who has been in kennels for 13 months and is in desperate need of a permanent home.
His ideal environment would be somewhere quiet, without children, and where he is the only pet.
Ten-year-old English bull terrier Edna came into the home as a stray in August, suffering from liver damage.
The NCDL will pay her veterinary bills for the rest of her life and she is described as extremely affectionate.
Sid, a ten-year-old whippet cross, was originally a stray, who is ready to become a pet, and needs regular exercise.
The final dog, Moses, is an 18-month-old black and white cross breed who has been in the kennels for eight months.
He is very friendly and would be best suited to a home with older children.
Catherine Gillie, manager at the Darlington Rehoming Centre, said: "These dogs deserve to spend Christmas by a warm fire with owners who will love them for life."
Anyone who would like to provide a home for any of the dogs can contact the centre on (01325) 333114
