TALENTED disabled and able-bodied performers are preparing to stage a Christmas music and dance show.
The Making Music Project has been running in the Gilesgate area of Durham for four years, bringing together young people aged 12 to 13, some of whom have learning difficulties.
Earlier this year, the group was given a £14,000 grant by the Prince's Trust to buy its own equipment and costumes, and pay for voice and dance training.
It has performed to youth and community groups throughout the Durham area and further afield.
On Friday of next week, the 60 members will stage the show at Durham Gilesgate Sports College and Sixth Form Centre's Bradford Crescent site.
Pat Hill, one of the youth workers who helps the group, said: "The show is a proper family show. It will feature music from the 1960s through to the present day - all of it from the charts.
"The show is absolutely brilliant, and it marks the end of the year for us. Normally the things we do are aimed at teenagers, but this is for the family.
"The money from the Prince's Trust has made a big difference and it has really brought the youngsters on. We have been able to buy our own quality equipment instead of having to hire it.''
The show will be staged between 7pm and 10pm. Tickets cost £2 for adults, £1 for children and are available in advance only, by ringing Pat Hill on 0191-386 1933.
