New Marske Harriers
The presentation of awards for track and field and road racing took place at New Marske Sports Club.
In front of a capacity crowd Ken Churchill, javelin gold medallist at the (Paralympics) handed out awards to the track and field athletes.
The first to receive their awards were the club champions.
Awards: Female Under-13 Penny Wilson; U-15s Tilly Dunne; U-17s Johanna Jackson; U-20s Michelle Anderson. Senior woman Danielle Anderson; vet woman Helen Humphrey. Male U-15 Richard Cook; U-17 Alastair Scoffin; U-20 Kelvin Snaith. Senior man Shayn O'Grady; vet man Tony Livingston. Most improved females, junior Laura Brown; senior Abi Silcock. Male joint winners, junior Richard Flett and Andrew Hart; senior Mark Tallon.
Merit awards went to 36 male and female athletes (and various other awards), the final track and field award was presented by Hilary Deans, the trophy in memory of her husband Stuart, who tragically passed away last year, to the sprinter of the year, Kelvin Snaith.
The road racing awards were then presented to the following.
Senior men: 1st Shaun O'Grady; 2nd Paul Welham; 3rd Andrew Sugden; Vet 1, 1st Tony Livingston; 2nd John Rymer; 3rd Nigel Barnbrook; Vets 1, 1st John Flattley; 2nd Brian Allen. Vet 3, 1st Ron Sherwood; 2nd Stuart Edward; junior man Peter Craggs; 1st vet lady Helen Humphrey; 1st vet 2 Lyn Wood; 2nd Sandra Jemson; 1st vet 3 Isabel Conaghan; 1st junior Michelle Douglas.
The Millennium series based on age grading was won by Tony Livingston, seond was Mike Harper and third was Brian Allan.
The Barclaycard Trophy was won by Shaun O'Grady and vet winner Tony Livingston.
The YGT Trophy went to the top male road runner of the year went to Shaun O'Grady and the Norah Cooney Trophy went to the top female road runner of the year Helen Humphrey.
The next morning seven athletes travelled to Leeds for the 10k road race. John Rymer was first counter with 38.43, Ronnie Sherwood 41.29, Andy MacLeod 46.08, Steve Dockeray 47.30, Keith Hennessey 49.20, Colin Scollay 49.36.
Cleveland Oriernteering Klub
Members of Cleveland Orienteering Klub (CLOK) took part in a National ranking event hosted by South Yorkshire Orienteers held on Burbage Moor, Sheffield, on Sunday.
Best placed CLOK finishers: Men: M40L 5th A Mackenzie (Sadberge), 8th C Wright (Castleton); M50S 1st P Taylor (Whitby) M60L 10th D Allison (Nunthorpe); M65S 1st J Bedwell (Nunthorpe).
