A farmers' market and craft fair were highlights of pre-Christmas festivities in Bishop Auckland last night.
Primary school children joined a procession through the town which featured bagpipes and Father Christmas.
In the Market Place, local farmers sold seasonal foods and carols were sung.
Bishop Auckland resident Gaynor Heaton said "It definitely makes the town feel more Christmassy. It's about time Bishop Auckland did something like this."
The event was organised by the Butterwick Hospice
