YOUNG basketball players secured a resounding victory against a police team.
The Wear Valley Warriors youth basketball team challenged Crook police at a basketball festival at Parkside Comprehensive School, Willington.
The lawmen proved no match for the warriors, who sprinted to an 81-48 victory.
Basketball coach Ian Hirst, who played on the losing side, said: "We tried to handicap them a little bit. We nicked a PE teacher from Willington and two of the younger players, but it still didn't help."
The aim of the basketball festival was to encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
Wear Valley Warriors have to travel to Tyneside to take part in competitions, because they have no opposition in County Durham.
