A MINUTE'S silence was held in tribute to a North-East football coach at the weekend.
The tribute was held at Darlington Football Club's Feetham's Ground in honour of Stephen White, the 24-year-old coach who was found dead in a house in the town's Braemar Court just over a week ago.
Mr White had been drinking with friends before his death, and police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
He lived at Little Beck Drive in Darlington and coached Darlington FC under-14 team, which is part of the club's school of excellence.
He had just passed a Uefa coaching course.
Luke Raine, Darlington's public relations director, last night said the tribute had been moving.
He said: "Everybody was very moved by the silence, and we had invited Stephen's parents and brother to the ground.
"It is a difficult time for them, and for us. Stephen was an integral part of the club and it was a very sad loss for us."
