YOUNGSTERS have helped to build models of two of science fiction's most popular characters.
Visitors to the Tesco Extra store at Kingston Park, Newcastle, were given the chance to build replicas of Darth Vader and robot R2-D2 from the hit film Star Wars.
The youngsters were supervised by professional Lego builder Jesper Skovmose, from Denmark, where the construction toy was invented.
The 2.6m Darth Vader and 1.5m R2-D2 used 220,000 bricks. The Lego spectacular was held to mark the release on video of the Star Wars Trilogy.
