TWO masked robbers armed with a gun stole cash from a North-East village shop.
The two men burst into the sub-post office in Heighington, near Darlington, at 7.40pm on Friday.
They were armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash from the shopworker, who was in the shop on their own at the time.
The shopkeeper handed over a sum of money before the men escaped in a light coloured, possibly metallic blue or grey car.
Both men were wearing balaclavas. One is described as being of thin build, and wearing a camouflage jacket and black gloves. No description is available of the second robber.
No one was hurt in the incident, and no shots were fired.
Darlington police appealed for anyone who saw a vehicle, or men matching the descriptions, or with any other information, to contact them on (01325) 467681
