MURDER HUNT detectives want to trace a lone cyclist who may have seen prostitute Vicky Glass before she was killed.
The man on the bike was caught on CCTV camera, riding through Middlesbrough town centre on the day the 21-year-old heroin addict was last seen alive.
He was filmed turning left out of Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, and heading towards the Shipmate pub, where the 21-year-old was dropped off by taxi on the morning she disappeared.
Detective Superintendent Brian Dunn, who is leading the investigation, said: "This man, who was caught on camera just after 4am on Sunday, September 24, may have been cycling to work or returning from his job.
"We need to speak to him because he may have seen something that was of no consequence to him but could prove vital to our investigation."
Police have complained of coming up against a wall of silence in their search for information and clues to Vicky's death. Her naked remains were found dumped on a lonely stretch of moor, on the outskirts of Danby, on the North York Moors, six weeks ago.
Mr Dunn said: "People should remember this is the murder of a young woman.
"We want her killer caught, but to do that we need the help of people who were out there and about, at the time she disappeared."
The 21-year-old, from Middlesbrough, turned to vice to pay for her drugs craving.
To date, a team of 20 police officers has been walking the town's red light areas nightly to speak to the 100 prostitutes known to work the area - women who they believe could provide clues to the murder and the killer.
The murder team want to speak to Vicky's friends, acquaintances - and clients.
Mr Dunn said that having to send members of the inquiry team to track down prostitutes meant taking them off other lines of inquiry.
The numbers to ring are the incident room on (01642) 301283 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
