AN eyesore park lake is to receive a five-figure makeover.
The Northumbrian Water Environmental Trust has provided £96,000 to clean up the lower lake at Middlesbrough's Albert Park.
The facelift, which will be carried out next year, will increase the diversity of habitats and wildlife in the park, says Middlesbrough Borough Council.
Trust vice-chairman Mike Cottingham said he was impressed with the bid made for its help by the Friends of Albert Park.
The donation comes only days after a £3.3m Heritage Lottery grant. Together with £850,000 from Middlesbrough council, it means that £4.5m will be spent on restoring Albert Park
