DAD-OF-THREE Graham Whalley has already broken two world records for charity in the name of his late wife - but his latest plan is so spectacular it could beat even that.
This year, muscleman Graham Whalley completed 3,420 press-ups in one hour to claim the world record and powered his way to an incredible 5,005 sit-ups in an hour to smash that record in order to raise money for cancer charities.
But his latest stunt beats even that, for Mr Whalley, of South Moor near Stanley, plans to suspend himself from a helicopter above the new Millennium Bridge in Newcastle to set yet another new exercise record.
Using a specially created harness, he will pull up his entire body in an excruciating body movement known as 'jack-knives.' And, as ever, he will do it all in the memory of his wife, Helen who died last year.
He said: "This will be extremely hard but I don't want the limelight for myself. This is a tribute to Helen and is about establishing a legacy for her. I want to raise money for cancer care and research at Newcastle General hospital but I want to do it in her name."
Mr Whalley, 37, beat the press-up record, which previously belonged to a Canadian, by just four but he smashed the sit-up record by more than 1,600.
To complete his latest world record attempt, which he hopes to do next year, Mr Whalley needs sponsorship. Anyone who wants to help should call him on (07718) 500765
