ONE of The Northern Echo's most-famous editors was put in the spotlight again last night.
Artist Simon James, 26, recently returned from a trip to New York, where he filmed a monument to W T Stead.
Last night, armed with a small projector, Mr James shone images of the monument on to the wall of the Crown Street library, in Darlington, where there is a stone to which Mr Stead used to tie his horse.
Mr James, who graduated from the University of Newcastle with an MA in art, said: "I chose to do a piece of performance art on W T Stead because he is one of the people from this region who have had an impact around the world.
"Also, pople may not realise that there is a large monument to him in New York, and I wanted to share that with them."
