SCHOOL crossing patrols are driving home the road safety message by giving out badges.
Crossing staff in Middlesbrough, Teesside, are issuing badges wishing children a merry Christmas and inviting them to "Be A Star...Watch That Car" during the last days of the school term.
More than 700 badges are expected to be given out near primary schools all over the town.
David Milford, Middlesbrough Borough Council's road safety officer, said: "These badges will be fun to wear and look at. More importantly, they are also a timely reminder for children to be vigilant and alert to road traffic every time they are about to cross a road."
