COUNCIL chiefs are celebrating an early Christmas present after scooping three awards in the Government's annual presentation for excellence.
Three Sunderland City Council services - public health, refuse collection and the city library and arts centre - will receive charter marks at a ceremony in London in February.
Welcoming the awards, chief executive Colin Sinclair said: "Charter marks are designed to recognise excellence in public service, so to win three awards is absolutely brilliant.
