TWO people were injured when a sports car and another car collided head on yesterday.
The accident, on the A690 on Gilesgate Bank, Durham City, near the Prince Bishop roundabout, caused traffic chaos in the city as police cleared the scene. A police spokesman said the road was closed for nearly three hours after the 3.30pm accident.
Remains of the £23,000 Lotus Elise, which collided with a Fiat Punto, were strewn across the road.
A man and a woman, who have not been named, were cut free from the wreckage of their cars by firefighters and taken to Dryburn Hospital, Durham.
The man was suffering from suspected spinal injuries. Details of the woman's injuries were not known.
