A FOOTBALL club has praised supporters who rallied to help sick children at Christmas.
Middlesbrough Football Club thanked all those who have already contributed to this year's appeal for small toys and selection boxes - and reminded those who have not that there is still time.
Members of Boro's first team will hand out the gifts to youngsters facing Christmas in hospital this week.
Louise Wanless, a public relations officer for Boro, said: "We've had a fantastic response and we'd like to thank all those fans who've been so generous.
"The more we get, the bigger impact we can have in bringing cheer to children who face an otherwise miserable Christmas."
As well as fans, companies including BT Cellnet and Rollstud and Jarreds have contributed.
Anyone still wishing to help can leave gifts at MFC Retail, in Captain Cook Square, Middlesbrough, or at the stadium shop, reception or ticket office
