A HOLIDAY jet was forced to make an emergency landing after a strap got caught in the cabin door.
Passengers on the Airtours flight from Newcastle to Tenerife alerted cabin crew shortly after take-off that wind was whistling in through the door.
Worried staff informed the captain, who diverted the Airbus 320 plane to Manchester for an emergency landing.
Passengers on the November 28 flight watched in horror as fire engines and emergency vehicles lined the runway as they landed. Details of the incident have only just emerged.
After inspection, it was revealed that a loose strap had become caught in the door.
However, despite reassurances from Airtours, three passengers refused to get back on the plane.
The flight eventually took off from Manchester at 2am, 12 hours after leaving Newcastle.
A spokesman for Airtours said: "At no point were any passengers or crew in any danger."
