THE body of a pensioner who was reported missing last week has been found in a North Yorkshire river.
Fears were growing for 79-year-old James Kinchen on Friday night after he failed to return to his Richmond home.
A search was launched along the banks of the River Swale - the area where he was last seen. Footprints were found between the Richmond Falls and Mercury Bridge.
A North Yorkshire police helicopter was called in to sweep the area.
However, thermal imaging equipment failed to pick up any signs and the hunt was scaled down overnight.
Mr Kinchen's body was found nearby the following day.
The coroner has been informed and an inquest is due to be held
