A TALENTED young artist will help thousands of children get the firework safety message next November.
Earlier this year, Sunderland City Council ran a bonfire and firework safety poster competition for pupils in its primary schools.
The competition attracted hundreds of entries, but the poster designed by nine-year-old Kate Buck, of Havelock Primary School, was the judges' favourite.
A council spokesman said: "The competition is part of our effort to raise awareness of bonfire and firework safety.
"Kate's work will be published and will be seen by more than 4,000 schoolchildren when we run our campaign next year.''
Kate will receive £25 of vouchers from the city's mayor, Brian Dodds, at the school's morning assembly today.
