A WOMAN was hit in the face by a robber who snatched her handbag.
The victim clung to her bag when the man grabbed it as she walked along Salters Road, Gosforth, Newcastle, at 6.15pm, last Thursday.
She was struck across the face and pushed to the ground. The bag straps were snapped and the thief ran off with it.
The woman was treated at Newcastle General Hospital for face and leg injuries, before being released.
The robber is described as white, 5ft 8in, of medium build, with short black hair and clean shaven.
He was wearing a light grey zipped-up coat and a scarf.
