A TV documentary focusing on a shoot-out in a North-East town nearly nine years ago is to be shown on ITV in the New Year.
The one-hour special, called Sieges, examines the circumstances behind domestic hostage-taking incidents around the country.
It will include interviews with Durham police officers and footage from the three-day siege in Lyonette Road, Darlington, during the Easter weekend of 1992.
The siege ended when a police marksman shot Keith Pringle and was the first time any Durham officer had opened fire on a suspect.
Pringle shot and wounded a friend, turned his shotgun on his mother-in-law, and then took his common law wife, Leanne, hostage. He survived being shot in the head and was jailed for 15 years.
A team from Scottish Television has produced the documentary, which is fronted by news presenter Dermot Murnaghan.
