YOUNGSTERS brought festive cheer to retired teachers who trained for their careers in Sunderland as long ago as the 1920s.
The Old Student Teachers Association, made up of teachers who trained at the College of Education, at Langham Tower, now part of Sunderland University, held its annual reunion yesterday.
The former teachers, many of whom have been retired for more than 40 years, were treated to a performance of Christmas carols by youngsters aged from two to five years, from the university's nurseries.
The coordinator of the association, Colin Orr, of Silksworth, said: "The association has some teachers, now in their nineties, who completed their training at Langham in the 1920s.
"It is a wonderful get-together for everyone concerned.
