Former Heartbeat star Bill Maynard has decided to find out if the grass is greener on the other side of the camera.
Bill, 72, who makes his final appearance as Claude Greengrass on Sunday, in the Heartbeat Christmas Special, aims to become a producer.
His company, Charterhouse Films, plans to develop ideas for film and TV.
"I'm also thinking about theatre," said Bill, who directed a pantomime in Southport this month.
This was to be his tenth and final year starring in Heartbeat, but in June be collapsed while filming the Heartbeat Christmas Special in Yorkshire Television (YTV) studios in Leeds.
He was admitted to Leicester General Hospital stroke unit and has been resting-up since being released in August.
He returned to YTV in October to complete four scenes in this Sunday's Special.
Last month YTV said it could not get insurance cover for the veteran star, who had two minor strokes before the serious one in June.
