MEMBERS of a north Durham support group were celebrating yesterday after receiving a cheque for £2,800 from the National Lottery.
Consett Disabled Persons Club plans to spend the money on repair work at its headquarters at Ashdale Road.
Alex Watson, leader of Derwentside council, officially handed over the cheque from National Lottery agents Awards for All at a celebration buffet at the club.
Treasurer Beryl Davidson said the club had not received any money since it was established in 1972.
She said: "This has been a nice boost for us and was much needed.
