ANIMAL welfare staff are seeking the owners of a cat found abandoned.
The grey tom cat was found in the Greenbank area of Eggleston, near Middleton-in-Teesdale, without a collar.
Appeals for its owners have produced no response.
Pauline Wilson, of the National Animal Sanctuaries Support League's Darlington branch, said: "We feel that this cat does belong to somebody.
"It has not been known for animals to be stolen and then just dumped somewhere just for the hell of it."
Anyone who can help is asked to ring (01325) 321855.
