YOUNGSTERS taking part in an after-school maths class in Guisborough were presented with certificates by local MP Ashok Kumar last week.
The 40 children are attending a Kumon course at an after-school class in Sunnyfield House. Classes are based on principles of learning pure mathematics and mental arithmatic supplemented by ten minutes of homework every day.
Dr Kumar said: "Maths is an essential instrument to make sense of the world around us. It is also a key skill if one wishes to have a proper career."
