MORE than £400 has been raised to give a brave youngster a fantastic Christmas.
Staff at Hays Travel in Bishop Auckland launched an appeal to raise funds for 16-month-old Cameron Murray after hearing of his battle against meningitis. They arranged for him and his five-year-old brother Andrew to go to Lapland two weeks ago with flights donated by Teesside Airport.
Yesterday the fundraising continued with a grand raffle drawn by Northern Echo reporter Lindsay Jennings. More than 500 tickets had been sold for the raffle with prizes ranging from health and beauty treatments to a power saw and travel vouchers.
Lisa Metcalfe, Hays Travel assistant manager, said: "The appeal has gone really well. I know next year, if everything goes well, we'll be looking at other fundraising activities for Cameron. The money will go in a trust fund for him.
