CHOOSING gifts for grandchildren can be a nightmare.
But a charity which works on conservation in the Yorkshire Dales has come up with the answer - a tree.
It costs £10 and lasts a lifetime. What is more, each one planted by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust next spring will be included in a scheme called Millennium Woods.
The trust will do all the digging and paperwork.
Each recipient will be sent a card and certificate, whether the gift is for Christmas or a birthday.
Names will also be recorded in a Millennium Woods register, on permanent display in national park centres across the Dales.
It is hoped the project will replace trees which have been lost over the centuries and boost diminishing wildlife habitats.
