A KNIFE-WIELDING robber was talked into handing back some of his haul by two have-a-go heroes.
But police in Crook, County Durham, are still hunting the thief.
The robber entered the Victoria Wine store in the town's Hope Street, shortly after 10pm on Christmas Eve. He jumped on to the counter and demanded money from two female staff members.
After threatening the manageress, he took cash from the till and made off along Hope Street towards St Mary's Avenue, chased by an unnamed man and his son. Despite being threatened with the knife, they persuaded him to hand back some of the money.
Police are looking for a well-built man in his mid-30s, between 6ft 1in and 6ft 3in, with collar-length, fair hair and stubble. He wore a yellow-reflective coat with a black leather jacket underneath.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Kieran Reed on (01388) 762011 or 07979 293506.
