A Major planting scheme is under way on the edges of Hartlepool, aimed at improving the town's environment.
Volunteers and Hartlepool Borough Council's Countryside Action Team are behind the scheme in the Newton Bewley area.
Andrew Craggs, Hartlepool council's countryside assistant, said: "So far, 3,000 metres of hedgerow has been restored with more than 16,000 shrubs and trees being planted."
