POLICE are continuing their investigation into the death of woman in a road accident involving a bus.
The accident happened as the 36-year-old, who was last night identified as Julie Turner, of Garth Walk, Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough, was crossing the road near the town's Sainsbury's store on Friday afternoon.
She suffered severe head injuries when she was struck by an Arriva bus, and died in Middlesbrough General Hospital.
Steve Burd, Arriva's commercial director, said: "We were very upset to hear of this and will send our condolences to the woman's family.
"As far as we can tell, the police are treating it as a tragic accident. They are checking the vehicle concerned but there has been no suggestion that there is a problem with it."
