A PARK will blossom in the new year thanks to a campaign's donation.
The Thornaby Football Club Community Project, at Teesdale Park, has been awarded £1,500 by the Shell Better Britain Campaign.
It will go towards the purchase of tools, trees, shrubs and wildflowers to create a community wildlife area, including an educational nature trail for children.
The scheme, run as part of Shell UK's Community Investment Programme, provides information and grants for environment projects.
Its director Peter Woodward said: "Thornaby Football Club is exactly the kind of initiative we want to tell people about. We hope the lead taken by this group will be an inspiration to others."
Any community group wishing to join the campaign's network can do so by ringing (0121) 248 5902.
