CAROL singing helped raise cash to aid destitute and abused children in Sri Lanka.
Singers took to the Co-op precinct, in Brandon, near Durham City, and collected £138.19 for the Project 2000 fund.
A series of events has been organised by members of St Andrew's Church, Brandon, to support the project.
The project ends on January 21 with a thanksgiving service shared between the Reverend Margaret Roe and Ron Newby, chief executive of charity Global Care.
During the service a cheque will be presented to Mr Newby to help the morning school, in Dehiwela, Sri Lanka. Lunch will be served after the service.
Tickets for the event cost £5, £3 children, and are available from 80 Cavendish Court, Brandon, Durham City
