ATTEMPTS to tackle social exclusion in Stockton are being given a £10m boost.
More than 60 people attended meetings held before Christmas to discuss the development of regeneration projects in central and north-west Stockton.
Residents and local groups were invited to hear updates on the development of a £10m Single Regeneration Budget programme for the areas, organised by Stockton Renaissance group.
The SRB money will be used to set up projects to get people back to work, improve the environment, set up life-long learning projects and increase access to services.
Bob Gibson, chairman of Stockton Renaissance said: "We were pleased with the attendance at the meetings and the lively discussions. What came across very strongly was the need to ensure relevance and accessibility to the residents of the area.
"We will be holding further consultation events."
The group is a partnership of representatives from business organisations, voluntary and community groups, local agencies and politicians.
