A GROUP trying to set up a youth facility in Ferryhill has identified suitable premises in the town centre.
Now all it needs to do is find enough money to buy the property.
The location of the building has not been divulged, but the Ferryhill Community Partnership believe it would be ideal for its purposes.
The establishment of a centre for the town's youngsters was singled out as a priority in a recent community appraisal.
A steering group has been formed to implement the recommendations, designed to enhance the town, which were devised by consultants after working with townspeople.
The appraisal sets out more than 100 ideas for action and ten key projects, which include developing a youth centre.
Jamie Corrigan, secretary of the new committee, said: "We have identified suitable premises in the town centre and we are looking to buy it.
"We've made an application for Single Regeneration Budget funding and if that is successful we're hoping that, together with money from other sources, we'll be able to buy the premises and have our youth facility.
