Richmond-based artist Mackenzie Thorpe hopes an exhibition in Birmingham next year could lead to wider recognition of his work in the United States.
The event, at the museum of art in February, is Mr Thorpe's biggest exhibition to date and directors from 14 North American galleries, who already show his work, will attend.
They will also visit Richmond, where Mr Thorpe has a studio and gallery in Finkle Street, the dales and Middlesbrough, where he was born.
"I hope it will mean they can go back to America knowing more about my life and work and what inspires me," said Mr Thorpe, one of whose paintings went to the owner of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas
