A CHAMPION boxer went back to his roots to pass on tips to youngsters.
Lance Corporal Lee Rookes, of Pallister Park, Middlesbrough, returned from Wiltshire, home of the Army's Green Howards, during a trip by the battalion's boxing team.
The squad, which won the Army Boxing Championship earlier this year, trained at Redcar's OK4 Sports Club, and encouraged local boys and girls to practise boxing.
The team is honing its skills in a bid to retain its national title.
While in the area, its members stayed at the Stockton Road Territorial Army Centre, in Middlesbrough.
The Green Howards form the Army's Land Warfare Battle Group, which helps in the trials of infantry equipment, and takes part in battle simulations.
