CARGO Fleet kept the pressure on leaders Acklam Steelworks with a 3-0 home win over Grangetown Boys Club, taking the lead against the champions when John Patterson put George Pain away and he ran on to open the scoring after five minutes.
Mark Wilson's free kick 20 minutes later found Pain who scored at the second attempt.
In the second half, Fleet withstood the Boys Club fight-back and in the 70th minute, Pain broke away and looked to be on course for a hat-trick but was fouled in the box by a Grangetown defender. Ray Teasdale scored form the resulting penalty to keep the gap between themselves and Acklam SW to seven points and gained revenge for their early season meeting when the Boys Club won by a similar scoreline.
Bedale Athletic stretched their unbeaten run to six matches with a 4-3 win at Carlin How who fell behind after only 20 second, Russell Edwards on target.
Carlin How were then shocked when Paul Taite made it 2-0 after 16 minutes. Twenty minutes later Jason Draper pulled a goal back. On the hour Draper made the match all square, but in the 75th minute Adam Bramley, with his 16th of the season, made it 3-2 and a minute later Taite struck again with his 14th of the season to give Bedale a 4-2 lead. With six minutes remaining Draper struck with his hat-trick goal, his sixth for Carlin How since joining from Whitby Town Reserves, for whom he scored 11 goals, giving him to 17 for the season and the leading league scorer.
Fishburn Park followed up their 4-0 win over New Marske with a 6-0 home success over visitors Stokesley Sports Club. After an even first half-hour, Fishburn took the lead in the 35th minute, through the previous week's hat-trick hero Duncan Marson. Five minutes later Alan Price made it 2-0 with his first goal for Fishburn since joining from local rivals Whitby Town Reserves. A minute from half-time Lee Found added a third. Marson added a fourth 10 minutes intothe second-half and secured his second successive hat-trick in the 70th minute. Five minute from the end Found struck his second of the game
Guisborough Town Reserves fell to their third consecutive defeat, beaten 4-1 at home to leaders Acklam Steelworks. Mark Wheatley gave Acklam a 29th-minute lead, his first Acklam goal. Three minutes later Charlie Agiadis made it 2-0, but shortly afterawards Agiadis was sent of for foul language at the referee.
This did not stop Acklam as and added a third five minutes later through Steve Burns. In the second half the home side pushed forward but were struck on the break when Dean Talukder scored his second for Acklam since joining from BEADS. In the 78th minute the home side were awarded a penalty from which Darren Coyne scored his sixth of the season.
Hollybush United went on a holiday goal spree against luckless BEADS, running up their highest score of the season, a 10-1 win. Earlier in the season BEADS lost by a record score of 19-1 to Cargo Fleet. Things started badly for the visitors when Darren Ward scored a quick-fire hat-trick with goals in the 5th, 10th and 15th minute, his first goals for the club.
On the stroke of half-time, Mark Thompson made it 4-0. Four minutes into the second half Paul Norton gave the visitors a glimmer of hope when he scored to make it 4-1 but a cruel own goal by David Dunn in the 54th minute made it 5-1. On the hour Thompson added his before Ian Kirkbright made it 7-1 in the next minute. Thompson completed his hat trick from the penalty spot after 70 minutes and Garry Smithies added a ninth before Mark Thornton took his tally to seven with five minutes remaining to complete the rout.
New Marske Sports Club gained revenge for an early season 4-0 defeat by visitors Whitby Town Reserves, winning 3-1. Paul Richter gave the home side the lead after seven minute when a penalty was awarded. This was the only goal of an even first-half. In the second period the home side took a two-goal lead in the 56th minute through Michael Magor with his first of the season. The visitors struck back and in the 75th minute Paul Graham, with his second consecutive goal, pulled it back to 2-1. But with five minutes remaining Chris Young sealed the revenge win with cracking 20 yarder.
Thornaby completed the double over basement club Mackinlay Park with a 3-0 win in a rather one-side match which saw the woodwork deny the home side throughout the match. Darren Miller gave the home side a 15th-minute lead and Darren Fixture added a second on the stroke of half time. After the breal again the woodwork, poor finishing and some good goalkeeping kept the score down until the last minute when a first of the season from Colin Stevenson made it 3-0.
The meeting of Thornaby YC and Nunthorpe Athletic usuallyresults in a tight and hard game. The Youth Club, failed in their revenge bid after a 3-0 defeat early in the season, beaten 4-1.
The first half was very even with Nunthorpe taking the lead on the stroke of half time when Andy Southern headed home a right wing cross. On the hour Neil Holdsworth bundled the ball home for an equaliser. The match was very even until the 65th minute when Phil Pinkney gave the visitors a 2-1 lead and ten minutes later Pinkney increased the lead with his second of the game and 12th of the season.
The Youth Club tried to get back into the match but with five minutes remaining Ben Thomson broke clear and secured the points with his third goal in consecutive games to seal win which keeps third-placed Nunthorpe on the trail of the two teams above them, with games in hand.
Wolviston Reserves have had a poor start to their first season in the league but have reached the last eight of the Durham County Trophy after a 4-3 away win over Spennymoor Quinns Inn.
Steve Baker gave Wolviston the lead from the penalty spot after three minutes. The 16-year-old John Davison, making his debut, added a second in the 35th minute. The home side pulled one back five minutes before half time when they scored with a penalty after Rob Arnold was punished for manhandling an attacker. Three minutes into the second half the home side made it 2-2. But two minutes later Davison put Wolviston back in front and Joe McMurdo made it 4-2 before Quinns Inn pulled a third back to make it a tough last 10 minutes for Wolviston.

Table-topping Boosbeck were well beaten at Staithes as the home side ran in four goals without reply in the first half and finished 5-2 winners.
James Wilson put Staithes in front after ten minutes when his persistence down the right paid off and he slotted the ball home. Lee Gibson had a gilt-edged chance when goalkeeper Paul Chisman missed his kick but Gibson volleyed wide as Staithes enjoyed most of the play.
Boosbeck relied on set play as Ben Libbey and Keith Gorman, along with full-backs Simon Best and Paul Theaker, kept the shackles on Richard Darcy and Shane Breckon and Boosbeck came close when Breckon worked a short corner and fired his shot into the side-netting.
Reed and Gibson both went close for Staithes before Gibson broke away, from Micky Morgan and scored from the edge of the area across the diving Chisman.
Darcy fired a free-kick over but Staithes were in control and Gibson chipped his shot onto the roof of the net. Glenn Smith hit the foot of a post and Ward chipped over from outside the penalty area.
On the half hour Smith scored twice in as many minutes, firstly when a corner was not cleared and he moved the quickest to get a shot in and straight from the restart won the ball and raced through.
Breckon pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after he was brought down but Staithes weathered the storm and Mark Whittaker got on the score sheet when he took advantage of defensive indecision.
The second-half failed to match the first as Staithes protected their advantage but Gibson had an early chance and then Ward's shot was well saved by Chisman. Boosbeck pulled a goal back in the closing minute when Breckon fed Darcy who rounded Sanderson to shoot home.
Great Ayton enjoyed a 4-0 home win over Loftus Athletic. Richard Hore gave the home side the lead when his right cross deceived the goalkeeper. Col Murray made it two from the penalty spot after a hand ball. In the second-half Steven Pennock played Hore through for his second and Murray got the fourth, again from the penalty spot, again for hand ball.
Ade Brown set home side Highland Laddie on the way to a 3-1 victory against Grosmont, a lead they held until the interval. Grosmont levelled in the second half through Alfie Hudson. Highland Laddie were not to be denied and Brown scored twice more from the numerous chances that came the way of the home team.
Ian Wagner scored two first-half goals to give home side Huntsman a sound start against Hinderwell, paving the way for a 6-0 success. The first was a deflected shot after a good run and the second also followed a good run. Shawn Robinson made it three from the penalty spot before man of the match Lee Downing got behind the defence and rounded the keeper to score. Robinson got his second in a goalmouth scramble before 15-year-old Lee Robinson was given his debut and scored with a 25-yard shot in the closing minutes.
Billy Catermole scored in the first minute and again on the half hour to give Lingdale a 2-0 home win over Brotton.
Loftus YC defeated visitors Anchor by a similar scoreline. David Howse put the home side in front with a left-foot shot from the edge of the area. Alex Grey made sure of the points with a second-half goal in the second half.
In an entertaining game, Goldsborough just hung on to take all three points with a 2-1 away win over Redcar Mackinlay Park. Stuart Marsey put the visitors in front when the home defence failed to clear a left cross and Marsey volleyed home. Marsey made it two when Goldsborough were awarded free-kick and with the home defence still arranging a defensive wall he struck the free-kick home before the half time.
In the second-half Mackinlay Park enjoyed all the possession and pulled a goalback when Neil Palmer scored direct from a free-kick. The home side pressed for an equaliser with both Paul Roth and Richard Daley going close but the visitors' defence stood firm to secure all three points.
Lealholm came from behind to defeat Eastfields Reserves 3-1 in the Scarborough FA Junior Cup. Eastfields took the lead before Andrew Raw equalised for the home side. Neither side created chances and extra time was on the cards until substitute Simon Shipton curled the ball home and then in the closing minute Phil Brown beat the goalkeeper but lofted his shot against the crossbar and when the ball came back into play Darren Harland headed home.

Shildon Railway consolidated second place with a hard-earned 2-1 win over DSRM. Following a goalless first half, Will Swinburn opened the scoring for Shildon, but the goal was soon cancelled out by Jonathan Coates. Just when a draw seemed likely, Stewart Blackett scored the Railway winner in injury time.
In the only other league game, Witton Park beat Middleton Wanderers 2-0 with a goal in each half from Anthony Weir and Paul Buckle.
In the Durham Trophy, only Brandon Station moved into the last eight to join Darlington RA and Roddymoor. Cockfield, Quinns Inn and Black and Decker lost interest in the competition.
Brandon beat Ferryhill Athletic 4-2. Peter Hart scored their first half goal,, with Steven Graham (2) and John Bell scoring in the second period.
Cockfield were beaten 4-2 on a penalty shoot-out at Chopwell Top Club. The score at the end of extra time was 1-1.
Quinns Inn paid the penalty for missing chances and were beaten 4-3 by Wolviston Reserves. Michael Lennon (2), and David Elliott were their scorers. Black and Decker were well beaten by Winlaton Hallgarth, losing 4-0.
In the Auckland Charity Cup, Darlington RA bear Roddymoor 2-1, all the goals coming in the first half. Paul Adamson and Graham Dodsworth scored for Darlington RA with Andrew Burgess replying for Roddymoor.

The postponed Billingham Wanderers-Sedgefield United game is to be played tomorrow at 10.30am at Norton and Stockton Ancients FC. The home side hope to have ex-Hartlepool United player Bobby Scaife available and also ex-Nunthorpe Athletic's Peter Collins returning from injury.

Teesside Athletic reached the next round of the Arthur Reed Shield with a 4-2 victory over Stokesley. Following a goalless first half, Chris Elliott set them on their way five minutes into the second-half when he fired home from close range.
Minutes later Elliott was on target again, volleying home from 12 yards and he completed a hat-trick 15 minutes from time when his well-driven centre was palmed in by the Stokesley keeper.
Teesside almost paid the price for sitting on their lead when Stokesley battled back to reduce the arrears to a single goal with five minutes remaining.
However, Teesside kept their nerve and Neil O'Brien made absolutely certain, scoring just before the final whistle.
In another tight encounter, Dormans won their Arthur Reed tie with a 4-3 success over Redcar Coke Ovens despite going behind after only ten minutes.
Lee Stephenson fired home from 30 yards for Coke Ovens and it was not until the half hour mark before Jim McGowan got on the end of Kevin Gibson's centre to equalise.
In the second half, Lee Williams scrambled the ball home to put Dormans ahead and Dean Farley gave them a cushion of a two-goal lead following good work down the wing from Gibson.
Sean Beatsom reduced the arrears following a good build up by Coke Ovens only for Dorman's substitute Craig Owens to score abrilliant solo goal, running from the half-way line before firing into the top corner of the net.
A thundering free-kick from Anthony Gregory with five minutes remaining raised Coke Ovens' hopes of taking the game to extra time but Dormans held out to book their place in the next round.
In the league, Middlesbrough Post Office lifted themselves up the table with a 7-0 win over Lingdale FC. Lee Thompson pounced on a long through ball for the Post Office opener and by half time they led 2-0 when Nick Hood's effort went in off a defender. In the second half, Thompson scored his second of the game with Stewart Rose (2), John Lavender and Darren Bartcliff also finding the net.
In the other league fixture, Tanfield Bros. beat the Woodman's Arms 2-0.
