DURHAM County Councillor Ken Manton has told Sedgefield villagers of a low-cost traffic management trial to assess the viability and effectiveness of traffic calming measures along Durham Road.
The road has been the subject of numerous speeding complaints by residents.
The trial involves placing features at various points along the length of the road to reduce the width of the carriageway.
Monitoring will take place to judge the speed reductions achieved. Initial checks are taking place to get up-to-date information on the speed of traffic on the road and similar checks will take place during and after the trial.
If these trials prove effective, Coun Manton promises to pursue the matter further with the aim of making the features permanent
