Peter Searle (26.37) beat Kevin Stephens (21.59) 3-0 and man of the match Kenny Dobson (31.98) beat Mal Cairnie (21.06) 3-0, then Paul Gaffney (21.47) beat Steve Blackmore (19.72) 3-0 to put Middlesbrough 4-1 up. Phil Hadlett (20.87) pulled one back for the home side when he beat Paul Jarred (18.21) 3-2. Pat Burgess (23.98) beat Colin Hunton (23.82) 3-0 to make the final score 5-2 to Middlesbrough South.
