OFSTED inspectors were impressed by the rapport between teachers and pupils at Roseberry Junior School, Billingham.
Methods of helping the least able children to make progress were commended by the inspectors in their report, who found the "very good" behaviour of youngsters created a "very positive atmosphere".
Standards in maths were well above average, with the school doing well in English, maths and science.
