Darlington have an injury crisis as they prepare for the tough home game with Rochdale tomorrow.

With utility man Gary Himsworth and midfielder Jesper Hjorth already ruled out, manager Gary Bennett thought Quakers' injury problems were easing with Paul Heckingbottom, Martin Gray and Steve Walklate all training this week.

But midfielder Glenn Naylor and defender Neil Aspin have both picked up knocks in training, and are rated doubtful for the game against the side with the best away record in the division.

"We will have a roll call to see who's fit," said Bennett.

"Our problem is down the left side. If Paul can't make it for any reason and Glenn isn't fit, then we will have problems at left back."

This is the same scenario which affected Quakers at Chesterfield on Boxing Day, when Heckingbottom pulled out on the morning of the game, and joined Himsworth on the sidelines, so Naylor played part of the game as a wing back, a tactic which didn't work very well.

"I don't want to take anything for granted," said Bennett. "We will probably leave it until the last minute before we name the team."

Bennett has put his whole squad on stand-by for a spell of five first team games in the next fortnight, and two reserve games next week.

"It is going to be a hectic fortnight," said Bennett. "Some of the young players will be figuring."

After tomorrow, Quakers have an LDV Vans Trophy game at York on Tuesday, then away League games at Plymouth and Exeter before meeting leaders Chesterfield at Feethams on January 20.

The reserves have an Albany Durham Challenge Cup tie against West Auckland at Feethams on Monday, then visit Lincoln in the Avon Insurance League on Wednesday.

Striker Paul Beavers, who scored the winner against Carlisle in September, is due back at Feethams in two weeks after three months on loan at Coleraine
