A STRING of shops has opened to sell a range of equipment designed to make life easier for people with disabilities.
County Durham Care, a wing of the county's social services department, has opened Home Independence shops within day centres for people who have a physical disability or sensory impairment.
The shops, at Spennymoor, Pity Me, Peterlee and Stanley, have a large selection of innovative products designed to promote independence and make every day tasks easier. They range from bath hoists to cutlery and slippers.
Staff in the shops are fully trained and able to offer detailed information and advice.
Customers are encouraged to try the equipment before buying, and in-store or home demonstrations can be arranged.
Further information about the shops and their operating times is available from Dawn Hirst, on (0191) 3835150.
