A NORTH-EAST man has been charged with causing a disturbance aboard an aircraft returning from North Africa to the UK.
David Embleton, 33, of Front Street, in Sacriston, County Durham, is alleged to have conducted himself in a disorderly manner, and committed a breach of the peace aboard the Nouvelair Airbus bound for Glasgow from Monastir Airport, Tunisia, on October 11 last year.
Mr Embleton, it is claimed, shouted and swore at airline staff and attempted to spit on cabin crew.
When the case against him was called at Paisley Sheriff Court, near GlasgowAirport, yesterday, it was agreed to adjourn proceedings for three weeks.
Justin Farrell, for the prosecution, asked Sheriff Bill Dunlop to give the accused more time to answer the charge against him when he failed to appear in court.
The sheriff agreed to continue the case without plea until January 25 when Mr Embleton is expected to answer the charge and lodge a plea.
