A NORTH-EAST housewife is almost £60,000 better off after scooping a bingo prize.
The 42-year-old Darlington woman, who has asked not to be named, won £57,000 in the National Bingo Game at the Gala Club, in the town's Skinnergate.
The woman was at the club on Tuesday night when she won the national prize of £50,000, plus the regional prize of £7,852 and the house prize of £67.
She completed a full house in 42 numbers, which was the fewest anywhere across Britain.
"My friend asked my husband to come into the club and he found me crying," she said.
"He didn't know what had happened.
"Everyone was saying congratulations and he didn't know why."
The woman, who has three children and a grandchild, plans to buy her council house with her winnings and invest the rest
