former England international Chris Waddle has joined Tow Law for the second time.

Waddle signed his first Northern League form for the Lawyers as a teenager before he went on to a glittering career at Newcastle, Tottenham and Marseilles, and he readily agreed to rejoin his old club when Tow Law manager Graeme Forster approached him after the testimonial game for Micky Bailey in midweek.

"He's told us that whenever he's back in the North-East he'll try to play for us," said Forster.

"We know he's already playing for Worksop in the UniBond League, but he's told us he'll try to fit a couple of games in.

"He must be the most expensive player to sign a form in the Northern League!"

Forster also revealed that Waddle refused any payment for his appearance on Tuesday.

"It was a great gesture, and just goes to show that those who have made their name in football sometimes don't forget their roots. Everybody was really grateful."
