THE next record hitmaker could cut his or her teeth on a new community music project aimed at producing the stars of tomorrow.
Sound Room provides rehearsal space, mixing equipment and training to budding musicians and to local people who want to pursue a career in the music industry.
The Gateshead project was formerly based in Route 26, in Deckham, but has moved into refurbished premises on the former site of the Redheugh Library, in Cuthbert Street.
The new site has a new and improved studio, dedicated radio room and rehearsal facilities.
As well as providing a meeting place for local musicians, it also offers free training on sound engineering and DJing to people of all ages.
Sound Room, which is pursuing charitable status, also provides support to a music collective so local bands can rehearse and record at low cost rates.
Future plans include a music community caf and children's music theme play areas.
Anyone interested in using the facilities should contact Rhod Davies on 0191-477 1116.
