A KIND-HEARTED couple have shown true festive spirit by raising £1,000 for charity.
The Northern Echo Ho Ho Homes winners, Tony and Judy Bennett, raised the money with a spectacular light display at their home in Wolviston Court, Billingham, Teesside.
We were inundated with nominations for entries to our competition to find the brightest festive house in the region, but the Bennetts' display was voted the best.
The couple lit up their home with more than 1,000 bulbs and other decorations, including a life-sized Father Christmas, fibre-optic Christmas trees and white polythene for a snow effect.
It took them a month to create and they decided to ask admirers for donations to raise money for the Butterwick Hospice, in Stockton.
Yesterday, the couple handed over the festive donation to the hospice.
