RESIDENTS are being warned to be on their guard against intruders posing as officials after an incident in Hartlepool.
A man and a youth made their way into a house in Runciman Road, on Friday, at 3.20pm, after they removed a door chain from the outside.
The occupant of the house, an elderly woman, disturbed them at the bottom of the stairs and they said they were from the water board. The two then left the house.
Although nothing was taken, she was left shaken and upset.
The man is described as being about 20 years old, 5ft 3in, of medium build, with cropped dark hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black nylon jacket and trousers and dark trainers.
The youth was 15 to 16 years old, about 5ft and slightly built, with short dark hair. He was wearing trainers and trousers.
